There are no DJ gigs for me this week. Maybe I’ll work on a new mix, while getting ready for New Year’s Eve at Club Underground, where I’ll be playing with Larry G. and Malvada. This week, DJ perksandkisses has a mix of 1950s and 1960s sounds, plus Christmas classics, ready to go for Thursday night retro party 96 Tears. Advance tickets are available now, but you can also get them at the door. Party starts at 9:30 p.m. at Chinatown’s Grand Star Jazz Club. This is a 21+ party.

El Vez, Chaki @ Lodge Room
El Vez returns to Los Angeles with his “Mex-Mas Show” on Friday, December 22. Head to the Lodge Room for some holiday cheer and make sure you get there early because Chaki, whose “Christmas Funk” is a jam, btw, is opening the all-ages event. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are available through the venue’s website.

Underground @ Grand Star Jazz Club

Sing Your Life Sundaze presents Smithsmas! at the Cha Cha Lounge on Saturday, December 23 with Rose Knows playing nothing but The Smiths and Morrissey from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. There’s no cover, but early arrival is suggested for this 21+ party.

Christmas Eve @ The Mermaid
It’s tough to find something to do on Christmas in L.A. Over at The Mermaid, though, there will be karaoke and Santa-tracking, plus Christmas horror movies and great drinks. (Check out the holiday drink menu when you’re there.) No cover and The Mermaid opens at 8 p.m.
