Klub Nocturno Is May 9 + More Happening in L.A. This Weekend

Klub Nocturno Catch One Los Angeles May 9, 2025 flyer

This Friday, May 9, Klub Nocturno takes over Catch One for five parties in one. I’ll be back in the New Wave vs. Darkwave room playing a mix of flashbacks and new bangers all night. There’s also the rock en Español vs. cumbia room, System of a Down night, the old school vs. new school reggaeton room and a disco room. Tickets are available on Dice for this 18+ event. Click here to get yours asap because Klub Nocturno does sell out.

As for the rest of the weekend and early next week, it’s going to be a busy one, even if you aren’t going to Just Like Heaven on Saturday. As far as shows go, I recommend checking out Big Black Delta at Lodge Room on Thursday, May 8, with Double Wish opening. Tickets are available on the venue’s website. Deradoorian, known for her work with Dirty Projectors and, one of my faves from the past few years, Decisive Pink, plays 2220 Arts + Archives on Saturday night. Tickets are available on Dice. Both of these shows are under $30 (service fee included) too.

For Saturday night dance parties, there are a few options. Over at the Grand Star, Décadanse, L.A.’s premiere French pop night, will be on the venue’s first floor, while goth night Disintegration is upstairs. Both parties are 21+. Note that they have separate entrances and separate covers. Meanwhile, over at The Stowaway, Club Synth is happening with DJs Tommy Drayk, Dark Chrystal and Jose Shuton. There’s no cover. Over at The Monty, Danse X is happening with Mark Label, Unholy and special guest Remy Marc playing goth, wave and Italo. This is also a no cover zone.

As for movies, Philosophical Research Society’s 7th House Screenings concludes its Marcell Jankovic series on Sunday, May 11 with the L.A. theatrical premiere of the Hungarian animation director’s The Tragedy of Man, a film that took close to 30 years to complete. I went to last week’s screening of Son of the White Mare, which also included the only completed segment of the late director’s biblical film, a very psychedelic retelling of the Genesis stories. It was amazing. That said, I totally recommend heading to PRS this Sunday. Tickets are available on Eventbrite

There are a lot of other great movie screenings happening around town over the next week, as well. In fact, there are too many to list here and I’ll probably forget something, so head over to Revival Houses and see what’s playing for yourself.  But, I should point out that the Mother’s Day classic, Mommie Dearest, is playing on Sunday at Vidiots. Plus, Björk: Cornucopia will screen at multiple theaters beginning today. Click here for details on when and where it’s showing.

Finally, just to give you a heads up for next week, Club Underground’s Smiths Night is May 16 and I’ll be playing alongside Larry G. and Rose Knows, so mark your calendar and maybe get tickets now.
