Concerts
Concert-wise, things will be a little slow this week in the aftermath of Thanksgiving, as usual, but there are three shows I want to recommend. Saturday, November 29, is the Club Spaceland 30 year reunion, with a host of artists from L.A.’s 1990s music underground. Touchcandy, Lutefisk and The Centimeters are all on the bill, as well as Rob Zabrecky & Friends playing Possom Dixon, Jon Wahl (Claw Hammer), Sissy Bar, W.A.C.O. and others. It’s all happening at The Regent and tickets are still available.

Next Wednesday, December 3, there are two shows worth your time. Twin Shadow is celebrating both the release of new album, Cadet, and the 15th anniversary of debut album, Forget, at The Regent. The show will include his original live band, as well as support from Blackpaw.
On the same night, over at Belasco, Wang Chung will perform their music for William Friedkin’s 1985 film, To Live and Die in L.A. This is the first time the band has performed the influential score live and the event will include a Q & A with the band, as well as cast and crew from the film, plus activations, merch and more. Get tickets over on Restless Nites.
Movies
Last night, I caught Edgar Wright’s take on The Running Man and it exceeded my expectations. It’s very different from the 1987 version and, while I love that version, I think this new adaptation of the Stephen King novel might be better. Running Man ’87 is a campy ‘80s commentary on entertainment. While Running Man ’25 is a little cheeky, it’s a more of a deeply unsettling satire of America right now. Definitely check it out if you have the chance.
If you have time off this weekend, maybe go see something new. Over the past few weeks, I’ve caught, One Battle After Another, Bugonia and Frankenstein, all of which are still in theaters and worth seeing on the big screen.
Coming Up
Just an FYI, I’ll be back at Club Underground on December 5. Tickets are available now. I’m taking the rest of this week off from the blog and posting will be less frequent, mostly so I can get dayjob stuff done and tweak some thing on the backend of this site. However, the Best of 2025 lists will be rolling out beginning some time next week, so check back soon.
