Gorillaz x Daft Punk Night at Club Underground + More Happening in L.A.

Gorillaz x Daft Punk Night Club Underground February 6, 2026

It’s time for another theme night at Club Underground and, on Friday, February 6, we’ll be bringing back one of my personal favorites— Gorillaz x Daft Punk Night! Both floors of the Grand Star Jazz Club will be open with DJ Larry G. and me, Liz O., playing all night. On the first floor, you’ll hear songs from Gorillaz and Daft Punk, plus indie, Britpop, post-punk, synth and electro dance. Second floor is Gorillaz, Daft Punk, post-punk, electro, new wave, darkwave, goth, synthpop and dance. You know this is going to be a good one too, since Gorillaz has a new album, The Mountain, coming out later this month, five songs from which are already out now. (You may have already heard “The Happy Dictator” at Underground.) Tickets are available now on Eventbrite and Dice, so get yours now.

As for the rest of the weekend, and early next week, keep reading for my recommendations.

Concerts

As of the time of writing this, there are still tickets available to see Say She She on Thursday, February 5, at Belasco, as well as She Past Away on Saturday, February 7. Also playing on Saturday night is Taeko Onuki, the Japanese singer who made a splash in the late 1970s and early 1980s. If you’re into city pop, that’s definitely the show to catch. It’s happening at The Wiltern and tickets are still available. On Sunday, The Warlocks will play the second night of their month-long residency at Gold-Diggers, with special guests Acid Tongue and Lord Friday the 13th. Heading into the week, the one concert that piques my interest is Comisario Pantera and Pastilla, who play The Paramount on Wednesday, February 11.

Dance Clubs/DJ Events

Saturday afternoon, head to Little Tokyo for Wamono Days over at High Tide. The 21+ party goes from noon until 6 p.m., making it a sort of pre-party for the Taeko Onuki show. DJs OJ, Curry, Dave Tada, Zaku.86 and Marcus are locals who you have probably seen play before if you go to city pop or Jpop-related events in L.A. Also on the bill are DJs Silph Scope and Oliver Gardens, who are in town from Texas. Advance tickets are available.

If you’re looking for something that leans more goth, Noctis LA is happening on Saturday night at Mal’s Bar with DJs Virtigo and Ralphie Nigma.

Movies

VHS hub WHAMMY! is celebrating its fourth anniversary on Saturday with a day full of events, including a rummage sale and a cassette loop workshop from T.A.P.E., Huell Howser screenings and a screening of the 1996 movie Skyscraper (all on VHS, of course), plus karaoke to close the night.

On Sunday, Philosophical Research Society is screening Nadja, a mid-1990s arthouse vampire film that I’m super interested in seeing, in part because it was produced by David Lynch, but also because the soundtrack is by Simon Fisher Turner, who also made music for some of Derek Jarman’s films, and it was originally released on Mute.

Liz O. is an L.A.-based writer and DJ. Follow on Instagram  or sign up for the weekly, Beatique newsletter for updates on new stories and gigs.
