Here’s What I Played at Disco Matinee on August 18, 2024

Just wanted to update quickly with my set lists from Disco Matinee on Sunday, August 18. Thanks to those of you who made it out to Grand Star Jazz Club for the little day party that Jus’ B and I throw, now on the third Sunday of the month.

My next two gigs are coming up at the end of the month. I’ll be at Underground on Friday, August 30, more details are forthcoming. On Saturday, August 31, I’ll be playing in the Indie vs. ‘80s room at Nocturno and tickets for those are available now.

Happening in L.A.: July 4 – July 10, 2024

This is going to be a whirlwind of a weekend. I’m playing four gigs in the next seven days and hope to see a few you out at least one of them. Friday night is Decadanse x Underground at Grand Star Jazz Club with Larry G. and me playing all your Underground favorites and Decadanse DJs Pierrot and Fifi LaRoux bring French heat to the dance floor. Tickets are available through Eventbrite or Dice.

On Saturday, I’ll be playing records for Malvada’s party at Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz with DJ Felix. Sunday is the first anniversary party for Disco Matinee over at Grand Star and Tuesday I’ll be joining David Christian for Dolce Vita’s ‘80s night Splash over at The Mermaid. Disco Matinee First Anniversary Party Is July 7

Disco Matinee is turning one year old and we’re going to celebrate on Sunday, July 7 at Grand Star Jazz Club from 3 to 7 p.m. To say thank you for your support this past year, there will be no cover before 4 p.m. if you RSVP on Instagram or Facebook* and the cover after 4 p.m. (or if you don’t RSVP) will be $5 for the first anniversary party.

Disco Matinee is a monthly, Sunday afternoon party with DJs Liz O. (that’s me) and Jus’ B. We play disco, funk, dance punk and more. If you’re down to dance to everything from Donna Summer to Talking Heads to Mary Jane Girls to Lime, this is the party for you.

Grand Star Jazz Club is at 943 N. Broadway in Chinatown’s Central Plaza, right next to the Bruce Lee Statue. Both street and lot parking is available. The venue is also right across Broadway from Metro’s A Line stop in Chinatown.

Disco Matinee Is Back on June 2. Discount Advance Tickets Available Now

Ride a groove through Sunday afternoon at Disco Matinee on June 2. DJs Liz O. and Jus’ B bring a mix of disco, funk, dance-punk, Italo, hi-NRG and more to Grand Star Jazz Club from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Discount tickets for this 21+ event are available now for $6.50 via Restless Nites. Click on this link to get yours now. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event for $8 (cash or Venmo accepted).

Grand Star Jazz Club is located at 943 N. Broadway, inside Chinatown’s Central Plaza. There is both lot and street parking in the neighborhood, plus, the venue is located right across from L.A. Metro’s A Line stop in Chinatown.

The Grand Star is located at 943 N. Broadway, inside Chinatown’s Central Plaza, next to the Bruce Lee statue. It’s a 21+ venue. There is street and lot parking in the neighborhood, but you can also take Metro’s A Line to the Chinatown stop, which will drop you off right across Broadway from The Grand Star. Here’s What I Played at Disco Matinee on April 7, 2024

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Grand Star on Sunday for Disco Matinee. It was so much fun to dig through my vinyl crates for this one and even more fun to play alongside Jus’ B and Televandalist.

Details for the next Disco Matinee are coming soon. In the meantime, get your tickets for The Strokes Nite at Club Underground, which is happening at Grand Star Jazz Club this Friday, April 12.

Disco Matinee: Punk ‘n’ Funk Edition Is Sunday, April 7

On Sunday, April 7, head to Grand Star Jazz Club for the Punk ’n’ Funk Edition of Disco Matinee. Guest DJ Televandalist will join residents Liz O. and Jus’ B for an afternoon dive into the intersection between punk, funk and disco.

Advance tickets are available now via Restless Nites for $6.50, which includes ticket fees. The cover will be $8 at the door on the day of the event. Disco Matinee is the first Sunday of the month from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Grand Star Jazz Club. This is a 21+ event.

The Grand Star is located at 943 N. Broadway, inside Chinatown’s Central Plaza, right next to the Bruce Lee statue. There is both street and lot parking in the neighborhood. The venue is also located across Broadway from Metro’s A line stop in Chinatown.

Intro “Lost Without Your Love” isn’t on Spotify, but it is in my record collection, so you’ll hear it in my vinyl sets.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Disco Matinee at Grand Star Jazz Club on Sunday, March 3 for our freestyle and hi-NRG party. Jus’ B and Gustavisimo played some jams for the crowd. I think I did too. At least, I got to play the Intro 12” for “Lost Without Your Love,” which I posted about on Instagram the other day.

Disco Matinee Is Back On February 4, RSVP for Discount Entry

Disco Matinee returns to the first Sunday of the month at Grand Star Jazz Club on Sunday, February 4. Join resident DJs. Liz O. and Jus’ B, alongside special guest DJ Jen Rock from 3-7 p.m. We’ll be celebrating Jen’s birthday with an afternoon mix of disco, funk, freestyle, plus a dash of Italo and nu-disco. If your jam is a mix of Donna Summer, Taana Gardner, Lime, Daft Punk and Purple Disco Machine, head on down to Disco Matinee.

Drop us a line to RSVP for $5 entry before 4 p.m. Entry without an RSVP, or after 4 p.m., is $8.
