There’s a new Hercules and Love Affair album out now. It’s called Danseur and it’s fantastic. If you were upstairs at Underground last night, you might have heard “Heaven,” which features Faris Badwan of The Horrors on vocals and is my favorite song on the album. (Read the review here) Other new releases in the set include the title track from Soft Cell’s final album, Danceteria (review) and “Exploded View” from Actors latest, Our Love Will Live Forever (review).
It was The Cure Nite, but, I was playing in the not-The Cure room upstairs. Got a few Fontaines D.C. songs in for those of you who came to the club after the show, and those of us who didn’t get tickets. Someone requested “Battle Flag” by Lo Fidelity Allstars at Underground last night, which is not a request I normally hear. In fact, I didn’t even think I had the song on my laptop, but, lo and behold, there it was. If you aren’t familiar with the song, it has a big hip-hop beat and getting out of it is a little tricky unless you want to stay at 100 beats per minute (in other words, slow by my personal standards), which I didn’t. So I started scrolling through Rekordbox and came across this Fcukers song, “Shake It Up,” that I hadn’t thought of playing before last night. It worked. Might play it again sometime.

Late last year, Finnish singer Suzi Sabotage curated the first Goths for Palestine compilation, a 30-track collection featuring contributions from an international group of artists, including Belgrado, Zanias, Dancing Plague and Taleen Kali, and with proceeds benefiting long-running relief group Anera. Earlier this month, Goths for Palestine, Volume II hit Bandcamp.

Over the weekend, I realized that it’s been a few months since I made a mix, so this is a quick set with some dance tunes and some rock tunes. It’s mostly new music, but I threw in a couple oldies that fit my mood. There’s no real adherence to genre because that’s not how I listen to music at home.
