Klub Nocturno is coming up again this Friday, September 26, at Catch One. It’s four rooms this time around, plus, just to mix things up a bit, I’ll be in Room 1 playing rock en Español and cumbia. I’ve got the bangers on deck for you so, get your tickets on Dice before it sells out.
As for the rest of your weekend, and early next week, here are my recommendations.
This just in: I’ll be DJing at Club Underground at Grand Star Jazz Club tonight, August 29, at Grand Star Jazz Club in Chinatown. Tickets are available now on Dice and Eventbrite. Plan to get there early and stay late for new indie, classic new wave, Britpop, darkwave and everything in between.

Did you make your plans for New Year’s Eve yet? On Tuesday, December 31, Club Underground takes over both floors of the Grand Star Jazz Club in Los Angeles’ Chinatown for a night of indie, new wave, darkwave, Britpop, post-punk and so much more. Larry G., Filthy Rich and I (Liz O.) will be your DJs from 9:30 p.m. until 2 a.m.
Tickets for New Year’s Eve at Club Underground are available now and you should click on this link and snap up yours as soon as possible because this event sells out every year.
Between Halloween and the start of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, this weekend is going to be bonkers. If you don’t have plans, perhaps you’ll consider going to one of my gigs this weekend. I’m actually DJing all weekend and all the sets are going to be different. Keep reading for all the details.
Sunday, September 15, is the freestyle, hiNRG and Italo edition of Disco Matinee at Grand Star Jazz Club. In other words, Jus’ B and I will be playing all the jams you can handle from the likes of Sylvester, Donna Summer, The Flirts, Pet Shop Boys, Bronski Beat, Fun Fun, Divine, Alaska, Fancy, Stacey Q, Exposé, Lime and so much more.
Disco Matinee is a day party held on the third Sundays at Grand Star Jazz Club from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The Grand Star is located at 943 N. Broadway, inside Chinatown’s Central Plaza, right next to the Bruce Lee statue. There is both street and lot parking in the neighborhood and the venue is located across Broadway from Metro’s A Line stop in Chinatown. This is a 21+ event. Tickets at the door on the day of the event will be $8 (cash or Venmo).
This Friday, August 30, is Depeche Mode Night at Club Underground. It’s also the birthday of Underground’s founder and resident DJ Larry G., so you know this is going to be a night for the books. Both floors of Grand Star Jazz Club will be open and DJ Filthy Rich and I (Liz O.) will also be dropping heat all night. Be ready to dance to Depeche Mode’s biggest hits, plus album cuts and B-sides, along with your Underground favorites. Tickets are available now on Eventbrite and Dice, so take your pick and get yours now.
Club Underground brings a dose of post-punk Manchester to Los Angeles on Friday, August 9 with a Joy Division x The Smiths dance party with DJs Larry G. and Liz O. (that’s me) at Grand Star Jazz Club. Both floors of the venue will be open, so you can expect a mix of hits and deep cuts from the Mancunian icons as well as your favorite Underground indie, Britpop, post-punk, darkwave and new wave jams. Plus, there will be a giveaway for tickets to this year’s The Smiths/Morrissey Convention at Avalon on August 25.
Disco Matinee is turning one year old and we’re going to celebrate on Sunday, July 7 at Grand Star Jazz Club from 3 to 7 p.m. To say thank you for your support this past year, there will be no cover before 4 p.m. if you RSVP on Instagram or Facebook* and the cover after 4 p.m. (or if you don’t RSVP) will be $5 for the first anniversary party.
Disco Matinee is a monthly, Sunday afternoon party with DJs Liz O. (that’s me) and Jus’ B. We play disco, funk, dance punk and more. If you’re down to dance to everything from Donna Summer to Talking Heads to Mary Jane Girls to Lime, this is the party for you.
Grand Star Jazz Club is at 943 N. Broadway in Chinatown’s Central Plaza, right next to the Bruce Lee Statue. Both street and lot parking is available. The venue is also right across Broadway from Metro’s A Line stop in Chinatown.
See you on the dance floor on Sunday, July 7.

On Saturday, June 15, Klub Nocturno heads back to Catch One in Los Angeles for five rooms of dancing. You can hop between Rock en español vs. cumbia, new wave vs. darkwave (where I’ll be DJing), Deftones night, Sad Bunny Night and disco. Tickets are available now. Click this link to get yours.
On Friday, May 24, I headed down to San Diego to play in the new wave vs. darkwave room at Klub Nocturno’s show at House of Blues. This was the first time I’ve played a club in San Diego and it was definitely a good night. The energy was fantastic, with people staying on the dance floor until the house lights went up. Plus, there were some great requests and a few cool band t-shirts that I read as requests. Keep reading for the set list.
