Perhaps you heard Larry G.’s announcement on Moheak last Saturday. If not, mark your calendars, we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day early with New Romantic Nite on Friday. Can I tell you how excited I am about this? That was rhetorical, I’ll tell you whether or not you care.
New Romantic Nite means I can play this:
I get a little swoony when I hear Ultravox. I won’t tell you which track I want to play off this album, though. Something has to be a surprise.
Also, it means I get to play this.
Yes, there’s more to Spandau Ballet than “True.” However, I will likely bring the big hit as well. Who am I to deprive people of dance floor make out time?
And then there’s this.
I know, this came out in 1985, so it’s a little late to be New Romantic, but my “Look of Love” single is in a plain white sleeve. I also contend that even ABC’s mid-’80s stuff was pretty rad. Yes, rad.
Of course, I’ll be bringing newer stuff too, most of which will kind of fit in with the oldies. I’ll also bring some Bowie and Roxy Music to represent the New Romantic influences.
I think this is a good excuse to wear my awesome H. Naoto pirate skirt. Since I shall be dressed for New Romantic success, I think you should too.
